Playback singer Udit Narayan Jha, also known as Udit Narayan, is from Nepal and is well known for his work in Hindi and Nepali motion pictures. Additionally, he has performed numerous songs in films in Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Punjabi, Oriya, and other languages. 

His work in Bollywood films is what is most well-known about him. He has garnered five Filmfare Awards and three National Film Awards. He received the Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu in 2001 from the late King of Nepal, Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, and the Padma Shri from the Indian government in 2009.

When Udit Narayan was still living in his native Nepal, he started out by singing Nepali, Maithili, Nepal Bhasa, and Bhojpuri for Radio Nepal as a staff artist for Maithili and Nepali folk music. He performed numerous well-known folk and contemporary Nepali songs on Radio Nepal. His debut playback vocal performance was for the Nepali film Sindur. It was a humorous song written for renowned Nepali comedians Basundhara Bhushal and GopalRaj Mainali (Chankhe) (Nakkali). 

A duet song was performed with Sushma Shrestha, who is now known as Poornima in Hindi movies. After serving in that capacity for eight years, the Indian Embassy gave him the opportunity to pursue a music scholarship and study classical music at the famed Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan institution in Bombay. In 1978, he relocated to Bombay.

Udit Narayan Career

Beginning his singing career in Nepali, Maithili, and Bhojpuri, Udit Narayan frequently sang as a staff artist for Radio Nepal. In 1980, he made his playback singing debut by performing a duet for the Nepali movie Sindoor with Sushma Shrestha. After that, he relocated to Mumbai to attend Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan on a musical scholarship. 

Udit had the opportunity to perform with the legendary Mohammed Rafi in the Hindi film Unees Bees in 1980 after being requested to sing by music director Rajesh Roshan. Soon, Udit began to sing for several Bollywood movies, such as Tan Badhan (1983), Bade Dill Wale (1983), and Sannata (1981). (1986).

 All of the tracks for Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak were sung by Udit and Alka Yagnik as they collaborated with music directors Anand- Milind. Udit collaborated with Anand —Milind on a number of movies, including Beta, Raja Babu, Aunty No. 1, Dulhe Raja Pyaar Ki Jeet, and Anjaam.

By the end of the 1980s, he was singing alongside Nadeem Shravan in movies like Baap Numbri Beta Dus Nus Nus, Phool Aur Kaante, Dilwale, Raja Hindustani, Aa Ab Laut Chalen, Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya, Kasoor, and Andaaz, as well as in Hungama, Footpath, Bewafaa, and Dosti: Friends Forever.

Near the Saptari area of the Terai plains of Nepal, in Bhardah, Udit Narayan was born in 1955. He was instructed by Pandit Dinkar Kaffini. He started out by singing in Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Nepali. At first, Radio Nepal turned him down for employment. 

Udit Narayan lives in Mumbai and is a Maithili Brahmin. He has a son and is married. He married the acclaimed Nepalese singer Deepa Narayan (from Darjeeling) in 1985, and the two collaborated on the album Dil Deewana.

The music of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak has amassed more than 8 million sales, making it one of the most popular albums. The Soundtrack, one of India’s premier musical labels, supported Anand and Milind’s T-Series careers, which both saw breakthroughs. He gained the respect of music directors as a result. 

In the 1990s and the early 2000s, Narayan was one of Bollywood’s most well-known vocalists. He has provided the on-screen vocals for a number of Bollywood celebrities. Along with these Bollywood stars, he also collaborated with Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rajesh Khanna, Dev Anand, and Salman Khan. In 2001, King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev of Nepal presented dilyhim with the Order of Gorkha Dakshin Bahu as a token of appreciation. For his services to Indian music and film, he was awarded the Padma Shri in 2009, and the Indian government also gave him the Padma Bhushan in 2016. He received the 2015 Chitragupta Cineyatra for his contribution to Bhojpuri movies.
